PAD LONDON :: ART AND DESIGN

drome Lần cập nhật cuối: 8 Tháng Tám, 2022

Traditions are made to be respected. This is more or less the motto of PAD London, the English fair that through its peculiar mix of design, contemporary art, decorative arts, photography and tribal art became popular over the years. The seventh edition will be held from 16th to 20th October and will hosts 14 countries in the elegant (it can’t be otherwise) Berkeley Square, at Mayfair.
In London tradition doesn’t exclude innovation. That’s why this year some galleries are going to take part for the fist time in PAD: Oscar Graf, specialized in French, English and American furnitures from the last century, Dutko and its Art Deco pieces put close to modern art works, then Matthieu Richard, who won the best booth prize at PAD Paris 2013, and Pascal Cuisinier, both of them will exhibit some works about illumination and design between 1950s and 1970s.
The Lebanese SMO is really interesting, also because it’s the first gallery from the Middle East to join the London fair. The 2013 will be remembered as the year with a massive presence of tribal art and the participation of names such as Bernard Dulon and its collection of African art, Entwistle and the pre-Columbian art specialist Mermoz.
An event dedicated to eclecticism, in which furnitures embrace jewelry and artworks creating a suitable place for everybody: from the collector to the expert, from the designer to the general public.
A democratic approach to design.
