A plissé birthday, and it couldn’t be otherwise. Pleats Please by Issey Miyake, the most famous plissé fashion line of the world, turned 20. To celebrate this occasion, the maison presents the new visuals, the new collection campaign, the new perfume, the new watch and the monographic book edited by Taschen.
The Japanese designer Taku Satoh realized some visuals inspired by the visual concept of delicious things, which perfectly represent the spontaneity of Pleats Please – they are coloured, ironic, but at the same time accurately refined.
The presentation of the new collection has been entrusted to Francis Giacobetti‘s photographs. The choice to depict some dancers is not casual: born in 1993, Issey Miyake’s line is famous for its comfort and its absolute freedom of movement. The clothes can be worn singularly or in layers. The purpose is to dress bodies without restraints, without physical limits, free to express themselves. Then, the body in action allows to have a better view of all the textile details. Produced by Beauté Prestige International, the first perfume Pleats Please Issey Miyake quotes in the packaging the architectonic shapes that the Japanese designer loves. The new watch designed by Jasper Morrison is the last product from Issey Miyake Watch and, more that a collaboration, it’s a tribute.
Finally, there’s Midori Kitamura‘s book, Pleats Please Issey Miyake (Taschen, 2012) that tells the story of the particular technical production of plissé, together with a huge photographic collection. Dedicated to admirers.
