In just ten years, it has earned a brilliant place among the most influential in the dissemination and promotion of contemporary culture, and as if that weren’t enough, for Vienna’s Summer 2012, the MuseumsQuartier becomes also a creative platform entirely dedicated to fashion. In particular, the scene of the event will be the Quartier 21, a creative space in which 60 different cultural centers usually host eclectic projects spanning media, conceptual and sound art, game culture, street art, film, design, photography, literature and, of course, the star of this thematic Summer: fashion. Exhibitions, performances, shows, photographic activities, debates, exclusive tours and small markets will guide the Vienna audience in a path multifaceted and complex as the same world of fashion on which is focussed.
MQ Summer of Fashion will start on June 14, 2012, with the opening of two exhibitions. The first, Reflecting Fashion. Art and Fashion Since Modernism, hosted at Mumok, is dedicated to the understanding of the points of tangency between art and fashion worlds, emphasizing its key role for artists like Ellsworth Kelly, Vito Acconci and Daniel Buren. The look to the future of Technosensual: where fashion meets technology, at Quartier 21 International, will present electronic textiles and wearable technology.
The Summer series will be closed by the MQ Wien Fashion Week, which will present the collections of Austrian and international designers from September 12 to 16.
