Native and ZenTwO are two Artists now based in Paris. They lived in too many places to be branded. Their destiny carried them across the world, in Metropoles such as Lagos, New York, Cairo, Amman, Frankfurt, etc. They work together for some years now and are developing a particular common style.
This book is a presentation of the results of their drawing sessions, entirely influenced by a mixture of all the cultural components gathered across all the years of living and growing in different corners of the world. The result is a statement of Modern Cultural Piracy. Drago is the Port that unleashes their Vessel in the recent trend of “The Clash of Civilization”. The aim is to break the distance between these cultures and bring them within arms reach, to confront their differences and discover the similarities. This "breaking of distance" is rooted in the process of creating the book, as they brought together their distinct individual drawing styles, visions, and ideas using Arabic Calligraphy as a bridge for a visual interaction. Their research is sometimes aesthetic; other times expressive radical statements, raw emotions or subversive cultural commentary. |
